Description:

 

Maximus 500mg Injection contains Ceftriaxone, a broad-spectrum third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic effective against various Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Ceftriaxone is indicated for the treatment of infections such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, septicemia, meningitis, skin and soft tissue infections, and surgical prophylaxis.

  • Suitable for intramuscular (IM) and intravenous (IV) administration.

Dosage & Administration:

 

  • Adults and children over 12 years: 500 mg to 2 g once daily, depending on infection severity and type.

  • Administration: IM or IV injection.

  • Reconstitution:

    • IM: Dissolve in 2 mL of sterile water for injection.

    • IV: Dissolve in 5 mL sterile water; administer slowly over 2–4 minutes or as infusion.

  • Adjust dosage in renal and hepatic impairment as advised by a physician.

  • Follow the prescribed treatment duration and dosing instructions carefully.

Precautions:

 

  • Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.

  • Use cautiously in patients allergic to penicillins due to possible cross-reactivity.

  • Monitor for allergic reactions, especially after the first dose.

  • Prolonged use may result in superinfections, including Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea.

  • Not recommended for neonates with hyperbilirubinemia or receiving calcium-containing IV products simultaneously.

Storage:

 

  • Store below 25 °C in a dry place.

  • Protect from light and moisture.

  • Use reconstituted solution immediately or as per storage guidelines.

  • Keep out of reach of children.
