Description:

Cefigen 500mg Injection contains Cefepime, a fourth-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative organisms, including resistant strains such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Cefepime works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell death and resolution of infection.

Dosage & Administration:

• Reconstitute using sterile water for injection before administration
• Dosage adjustment required in patients with renal impairment

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or beta-lactams
• Use with caution in patients with renal dysfunction—monitor creatinine clearance
• Risk of neurotoxicity (e.g., seizures, encephalopathy) in renally impaired or elderly patients
• Safety in pregnancy should be evaluated by a healthcare provider
• Monitor for signs of secondary infections such as C. difficile-associated diarrhea
