Description:

Leride 4mg Tablets contain Glimepiride, a third-generation sulfonylurea used for the effective management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works by stimulating pancreatic β-cells to release insulin and enhancing peripheral insulin sensitivity. Glimepiride is known for its convenient once-daily dosing, improved safety profile, and lower risk of hypoglycemia compared to older agents in its class.

Key Features:

  • Potent once-daily oral hypoglycemic agent.

  • Enhances both insulin secretion and action.

  • Suitable for monotherapy or combination with metformin or insulin.

  • Lower risk of hypoglycemia with proper titration.

  • Well-tolerated with minimal gastrointestinal side effects.

Dosage & Administration:

  • Adults: Typically 1–4 mg once daily with the first main meal.

  • Adjust dose gradually based on glycemic response; maximum dose is 8 mg daily.

  • Start with lower doses in elderly or renally impaired patients.

  • Tablets should be swallowed whole with water.

  • Use only as prescribed by a physician.

Precautions:

  • Contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or known hypersensitivity to sulfonylureas.

  • Caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment.

  • May cause hypoglycemia—ensure regular meals and avoid skipping doses.

  • Monitor blood glucose regularly during therapy.

  • Use during pregnancy or lactation only if clearly needed and under medical supervision.

Storage:

  • Store below 25 °C in a cool, dry place.

  • Protect from moisture and direct sunlight.
